Member Services

  1. Registration of Institute Faculty, Staff and Students as library members, through Biometric & RFID Interface.
  2. Assistance in locating reading material.
  3. Orientation to new users; and
  4. Clearance of dues etc.

Circulation Services

  1. Reading materials can be borrowed from Circulation Desk or Self-Service Kiosk between 9:30 am to 8;00 pm on all working days of the Institute.
  2. The borrowed materials have to be returned to the library on or before the due date at Book Drop station or at the Circulation Desk.

Reference & Information Service

  1. Library houses a number of reference books and also has access to information resources in electronic form.
  2. Library Staff are always available for guidance and help with the reference material, and also for answering the related queries.
  3. Reference queries can also be emailed to office_library@iitj.ac.in

Inter Library Loan

  1. Library arranges to borrow on Inter Library Loan from other libraries, documents that are not available in its collection. This is done on an inter-institute cooperation basis.
  2. Such materials have to be handled with utmost care and returned to library well on time.
  3. This facility is provided for academic and research purpose to IIT Jodhpur library members.
  4. Members are requested to send a formal email request to the library (office_library@iitj.ac.in) with complete bibliographic details of the documents required.

Document Delivery Service

  1. Library arranges for photocopies of research papers/articles from journals, conference proceedings and sources that are not held in its collection from various sources.
  2. The service is provided for academic and research purpose to the IITJ library members.
  3. Members are requested to fill the Article Request Form with complete bibliographic details of the documents required.

Course Reserves

Two copies of Textbooks recommended by the Faculty Members for different courses are available in the Course Reserves section. These books are for consultation in the library premises only. However, these are issued overnight during the examination period against the Identity Card.

Current Awareness Service

Information about new arrivals of books and journals is made available on the library website and catalogue.

Digital Library

  1. The Digital Library section is equipped with computer terminals facilitating access to various academic resources, viz., journals, databases etc.
  2. This facility is strictly for academic purposes only.

Book Bank

  1. Library has an exclusive collection of textbooks for students belonging to SC/ST category, as per GoI norms.
  2. For issuing these books, students can apply as per the announced schedule by the Student Volunteers of Book Bank.

11. What do you offer for visually impaired

With a mission to foster the sense of inclusivity within the academic community by supporting our differently-abled users with accessible environment, we have developed a dedicated Screen Reader facility in the Digital Library section. It will be helpful in promoting equal access to information for individuals with visual impairments. This technology enables text-to-screen conversion of the content into speech or Braille, providing them with greater independence in navigating and utilising the library's resources, thus providing valuable support to visually impaired users in their academic endeavours. This initiative is in line with the current movement to integrate assistive technologies into libraries, aiming to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.

12. Can I download e-books or articles from the library’s databases?

Yes

  1. From Journals : You can download copies of articles from the journals/ resources licensed by the library.
  2. From books: You can download copies of chapters from the books licensed by the library.

However, please understand and follow the Fair Use and Copyright Policy applicable to accessing electronic resources, carefully.

13. Is there a limit to the number of e-books or e-journals I can access?

No. There is no limit to accessing the resources. But you should follow a reasonable limit while downloading articles/ chapters from the licensed resources. For details, please refer to the Fair Use and Copyright Policyapplicable to accessing electronic resources.

14. Can I request help with research or finding specific resources?

20. How can I get “No Dues” from the library?

Please visit the library and request for “No Dues” at the Circulation Counter of the library. The staff members shall check your library account and let you know if there are any dues to be cleared by you. If not, they shall do the needful.

21. Are there any restrictions on using e-resources for commercial purposes?

Yes. The e-resources accessible through the library are licensed by the institute. These are meant specifically for academic and research purposes while you are associated with the institute. These resources CANNOT be used for any commercial purpose. It is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Also, systematic downloading of the resources licensed by the library is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Any such incidence shall attract consequences. Please understand and follow the Fair Use and Copyright Policy applicable to accessing electronic resources, carefully.

22. Can I access newspapers, magazines, or multimedia content through the library’s e-resources?

Yes. The library licenses Current & Leisure Reading Resources, like PressReader, Edzter, KukuFM, NotNul, which are available on the library website.
